Hope Squad is a school-based peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. Peers select students who are trustworthy and caring individuals to join the Hope Squad group. Squad members are trained to watch for at-risk students, provide friendship, identify suicide warning signs, and seek help from adults. This panel will discuss the benefits of being a Hope Squad member along with some challenges in getting a group started. Members of the panel are from two of the first Hope Squad groups started in the state of Iowa.
